Common reasons signatures are rejected
- The scan is under 10 KB. That usually happens when a tiny crop is saved at low quality; Maru raises the quality to get above it.
- The file is over 100 KB, typically a full-resolution phone photo of the page.
- It isn't a JPG/JPEG. Screenshots are often PNG files and get refused by the form.
- The signature is faint or blurred and not clearly legible after compression.
- The photo was uploaded in the signature field, or the other way round.

What is the JEE Main signature size?
Between 10 KB and 100 KB, in JPG/JPEG format, according to the NTA Information Bulletin for JEE (Main) 2026.
Does the bulletin set signature dimensions?
No. It sets only file size and format, and asks that the image be clearly legible. Maru crops to a wide signature frame by default and labels it as a Maru default.
My scan is only a few KB. Is that a problem?
Yes: anything under 10 KB is below the limit. Maru raises the image quality until the file is at least 10 KB.
Any tips for a clean signature scan?
Tip, not a rule: sign with a dark pen on plain white paper and photograph it in daylight, flat and straight-on. Clear contrast survives compression best.
Is the JEE signature rule the same as NEET's?
The size range matches the NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin, but always follow the bulletin for the exam you are applying to.
