About Maru

Maru is a free, private tool that resizes and checks photos and signatures against official passport, visa and exam requirements, entirely in the browser.

The name

In Japan, a teacher's red circle, maru (丸), beside an answer means it's correct. A triangle means partly right; a cross means wrong. Maru uses the same three marks to grade your photo after fixing it, so you can see exactly why it passes.

Why it exists

Official photo rules are precise, scattered and easy to get wrong, and many websites repeat numbers that don't match the source. A rejected photo can cost an appointment, a fee or a deadline. Maru gives you the rule, its source, and a file that meets it.

How it stays free

Maru shows a few clearly labelled ads, placed away from the tool so you never tap one by accident. It has no accounts and no paid tier.

Privacy

Your photo never leaves this device. Photos are processed inside your browser. We can't see them, store them or recover them. Read the privacy policy.

Who makes it

Maru is a daeq project, available at maru.daeq.in. Write to maru@daeq.in.

Maru is not affiliated with any government. Requirements come from the official sources linked on each page. Always confirm on the official site before you submit.
