Methodology

How we verify every rule

Every requirement on Maru comes from the authority that sets it: a government, embassy or exam body. Here is exactly how a rule gets onto the site and how it stays correct.

1. Official sources only

We read the issuing authority's own web page or official PDF. We never copy numbers from other photo websites, blogs or forums. If the official page is unclear, the value stays blank rather than guessed.

2. Quoted, not paraphrased

Each rule is stored with the exact sentence it comes from and a link to the page. You'll see a short quote and the link in the "Official requirement" box on every page.

3. Checked word for word before publishing

Rules start as drafts. Before one is published, every stored quote is fetched again from the official page and must match it word for word, and each value is checked against its quote. Rules the source doesn't state clearly are left out. Only rules that pass are published, with the date of the check.

4. Editions and dates

Exam rules change with each bulletin, so those pages name the edition they follow (for example "NEET (UG) 2026"). Every page shows when its rule was last verified. After 180 days we show a notice to check the official page.

5. Watching for changes

Each month an automated check looks for changes on every source page. Any change sends the rule back for a person to re-verify.

6. Corrections

Every page has an "Is this rule wrong?" link. We treat reports as tips, check the official source, and fix confirmed errors. Corrections are listed in the changelog.

What Maru's checks mean

The ○ △ × marks report what your file measures against the rules shown. They are not an approval from any authority, which may also check things a tool can't, such as expression or likeness. Always confirm on the official site before you submit.
